[opennms-discuss] Monitor ESXi without vCenter

Hello All,

I have a question regarding monitoring ESXi without vCenter.

Is it possible to monitor ESXi servers without a vCenter server. We have
multiple ESXi servers running, but we do not have vCenter.

SNMP is up and running, but it's not providing any useful information atm...

I really hope it is possible and that somebody is able to point me in the
right direction.

Best regards,

I don't think that collecting metrics via other means than SNMP (ie: via
the vmare-integration) is possible without vCenter.

I'm currently setting up this integration here (fortunately we have
vCenter) and nothing from what I've read until now makes me think otherwise.

Here are good documentations:

Hi Cyrille,

Thank you for your reply. I thought something like that.

I tried the vmwarecimquery but that generates an exception...

O well... Will tell my boss he needs to buy vCenter :-)
